Welcome to Free Ride. We are a charitable bike workshop and membership programme based in Te Awa Kairangi ki Tai - Lower Hutt, NZ.   We are a volunteer organisation. We provide a range of free services, subsidised bike services and paid services. Please see our services below, event listings and opening hours.

Our programmes

  • Cycle with Confidence.
    Cycle with Confidence.
    22 Mar 2025, 12:00 pm – 2:00 pm
    Free ride's cycle with Confidence for Adults and Youth. Adults learn to ride with confidence, build your skills riding on the road, with our skilled instructors. You can bring your own bike, or if you don't have one, we'll supply one, just let us know. Meet at our Workshop in Naenae Pavillion.
  • E-bike Library Group ride - Riverside drive to seaview
    E-bike Library Group ride - Riverside drive to seaview

    This is the second ride for those wishing to join the E-bike Library. We will extend from our first ride to (Taita Rock) to include some road riding and further distance. Tickets are free, but a booking is required.
  • Te Ara Tupua Group ride

    This ride is $25 per rider, with a limit of 6 people on our Free Ride fleet. extra space available for those with their own E Bikes) Come with us to explore Te Ara Tupua from Naenae to Petone and back.

    Free ride's Hutt Valley Whānau Bike Skills for all. Do you want to learn to ride? Are you keen to get back on a bike? Do you want to build confidence on two wheels and get some tips about how to stay safe? Join us for our Pedal Ready cycle training course for all ages - children and adults
