Daly Street Comes Alive with Free Ride
We’re thrilled to announce that Free Ride is partnering with the Hutt City Council to activate the vacant Daly Street site, transforming it into a vibrant, community-led space powered by cycling. This exciting initiative will kick off with our Opening Party on Saturday, April 12 2025. As part of this activation, Free Ride will bring its cycling programs into the central city, offering bike fix-ups, skills training for tamariki, little kids and family bike events, mechanic training, and more. With a strong focus on community, sustainability, and accessibility, our presence at Daly Street will provide opportunities for people of all ages to engage with cycling in a fun and supportive environment. This initiative aligns with the Hutt City Council’s vision of creating a welcoming and dynamic urban space, shaped by local input and collaboration. Daly Street will also feature a modular pump track and repurposed elements from previous projects, ensuring a sustainable and community-driven transformation.
We look forward to bringing the energy of Free Ride to the city and working alongside local groups to make Daly Street a hub of activity. See our home page for upcoming events and opportunities to get involved.

Cycling support for the whole whānau.

Ride and Play
For little kids
We'll be running interactive Little Wheels sessions for tamariki aged 1-6 and whānau as well as offering bike coaching and confidence building for everyone. We have a limited supply of bikes for our little ones, so if you have a bike bring yours.

Learn
For rangatahi and other learners
These sessions are gentle mentoring sessions to help you learn to fix your own bike. If you don't have a bike, get in touch before the session and we'll try and get you one. Help us take old bikes apart to use to fix other Free Ride bikes.

Bike to Work
Keep your bike safe.
Commuter cyclists have it made.
They have the best fitness option and a free way to get to work. We want to connect more with commuters and ready ourselves for Te Ara Tupua, when many more of us will feel safer to ride to Wellington or aroung Hutt City for work.
Thanks to our sponsors and supporters
