Bike Drop!

Everything at Free Ride comes together in a Bike Drop. Giving away bikes is central to our community led model. When we have enough bikes fixed and safety checked for giving away, we do a Bike Drop! That's when you can come in and try on a bike for size.

It's first in first serve, but we usually have a good range of bikes, so if you are a Free Ride member and you want a bike come down this Saturday December 19th for our next Bike Drop. We also have helmets and backpack covers so you are seen and safe on the road.

Whanau bike skills sessions

We love to give bikes to whānau, we know as parents the adventures get bigger when we can go along with our kids, to keep them safe and to guide their behaviour. Our programme Whānau Bike Skills offers free training for parents and tamariki to learn new skills supported by well trained experienced teachers. Book here

Group Rides

We also offer whānau group rides to explore our neighbourhoods and cities and have one coming up on November 27th. If you're keen meet at 35 Hillary Court Workshop at 11am and bring your lunch and a drink bottle. Come along and meet other locals and help us build our cycling whānau.

Workshop programme

Our Free Ride workshop at 35 Hillary Court is all about working towards getting more bikes out into our community and building community capability so that more of us can learn skills to fix and maintain bikes. We are always looking for people who have some bike fixing skills, we provide all tools and parts, just come along and get greasy. We have 2 more mechanic sessions for 2022.
